Leaf & Root : Astringent, sweet, emetic, diuretic and alexeteric. Useful in vitiated conditions of Vata, cough, pharyngodynia, pectoralgia, stomatities, inflammations and strangury.

Seed : Acrid, bitter, astringent, toxic, abortifacient, aphrodisiac and trichogenous. Useful in vitiated conditions of Pitta and Vata, opthalmopathy, leucoderma, skin disease, alopecia, tubercular glands, hyperdipsia and fever. Poisonous, should be used under medical supervision and after purification.
