The herb is considered to be liver tonic, hair tonic, deobstruent, antihepatotoxic, anti-inflammatory, astringent hemostatic, anodyne and absorbent. Used in piles, leucorrhoea, rheumatism, skin diseases, wounds, parasitic worms. Shoot milk as aphrodisiac. The milky juice is applied for toothache, pains and bruises and as an anodyne in rheumatism and lumbago. Leaves are heated and applied as poultice to abscesses.
